The Race

A new Fourth of July 5K on a familiar Potomac course.

On the morning of July 4th, runners gather for a rolling 5K through quiet Potomac neighborhoods, lined with neighbors, flags, and trees.

  • Open to runners, walkers, families, and strollers.
  • Chip-timed result.
  • All finishers receive a commemorative cooling towel.

Race Morning

A simple, on-time schedule.

  1. 6:30 AM

    Bib & chip pickup opens

    Day-of pickup tent on Glenolden Drive.

  2. 7:30 AM

    Opening ceremony

  3. 8:00 AM

    Race start

    All runners and walkers start together. Runners arriving more than seven minutes after the gun cannot enter the course.

Parking

Race parking is at Potomac Presbyterian Church, 10301 River Road, a short walk from the start line.

Packet pickup

Day-of pickup only, on race morning between 6:30 and 8:00 AM at the start line on Glenolden Drive.

Race entries are non-refundable.

MCRRC is a non-profit organization. The income we receive from membership dues, race & program registration fees, and donations is used to fund training program & race permitting, including tracks, and our low-key race series — as well as to administer the club in a manner that benefits our members and the community.

Our community service efforts include scholarships to promising high school runners, discounted dues for young athletes, and sponsoring the annual MOCO XC Championships through timing. Your generous donations will be used to continue our efforts in promoting running as a healthy lifestyle choice in Montgomery County.
